Columbia
River Fall Chinook Salmon - Buoy 10 / Astoria
The Fall Chinook or King
Salmon are the largest and most powerful of all the
Salmon species. They are aggressive predators in nature and
ferocious adversaries at the end of your line. They have the
ability to rip off hundreds of feet of line and destroy the
best of rods and reels in a matter of seconds.
Some salmon fishing seasons are famous. The famed "Bouy
10" season can be some of the best salmon
fishing in the world. This is at the mouth of the
Columbia River in August which offers a chance at both Coho
or Silver Salmon and Chinook
or King Salmon on the coast of Oregon and
Washington at Astoria and Ilwaco Washington.
There is also great Salmon fishing at Tillmook
Bay and Nehalem Bay for Coho Salmon and the giant King Salmon
that can top the 50 lb. mark! We start fishing for fall Chinook
in Tillamook Bay, Nehalem Bay and the Pacific Ocean in September
and October moving inland with the fish as they make their
migration.
Columbia
River Fall Chinook Salmon
Tillamook Bay, the words conjure
visions of the largest Chinook Salmon being
boated in this scenic, shallow bay. Two things set Tillamook
Bay apart from other bays: The fact that it is the largest
estuary on the coast, and the productivity of its tributaries:
the Miami, Kilchis, Wilson, Trask and Tillamook. With 5 different
rivers feeding this estuary, Tillamook Bay is truly one of
the best opportunities on the coast to boat a fifty-pounder.
This Oregon Salmon Fishing season has very
long peak that starts in early September and lasts until mid
December.
Heart pounding action and run sizes in the hundreds of thousands,
it's no wonder this is one of our favorite Salmon fishing
seasons and very popular with our customers. (Fishing Oregon's
Columbia River, Buoy 10, Tillmook Bay,Nehalem Bay,Pacific
Ocean and North Coast Rivers and Bays.)

You wait with nerves of steel while your heart
pounds... your gettin' a bite....you set the hook, then it happens
- the line starts screaming off the reel. You asked for a fight
and now you've got it. Behind the boat about 200 yards your
sturgeon jumps looking like three 55 gallon drums attached to
a tail. Then it hits you, "What have I done!". With
sturgeon 6 ft - 12 ft in size and reaching 600+ lbs. this is
not for the weak or timid. After 45 minutes to 1 hour your arms
are ready to fall off. You're landing the largest fresh water
sturgeon on the planet. You lean over the side of the boat for
a picture with your monster sturgeon because without the picture
your friends would never believe you! Bring your camcorder!
