The Chinook is blue-green on
the back and top of the head with silvery sides . It has
black spots on its tail and the upper half of its body.
It's mouth is dark gray. Adult fish range in size; they
average 10 to 50 pounds. Chinook Salmon put up a magnificent
fight. Chinook Salmon, are great eating and excellent
for smoking and canning. Chinook Salmon may spend an average
of 3 to 4 years in the ocean before returning to their home
rivers to spawn. Large schools of Chinook Salmon build off
the mouth of the Columbia River [ocean] in June and July.
In August we begin targeting Columbia River Fall Chinook
Salmon in the river, from Astoria to Bonneville Dam. The
Columbia river Fall Chinook Salmon runs are known for there
record run size 600,000 to 900,000 thousand Fall Chinook
Salmon.
The Columbia River Silver
Salmon, Coho Salmon, ranges in size of 8 pounds to 25
pounds. Also, enters the Columbia River in the middle of
August with record runs, of 100,000,000 to 200,000,000.

Salmon and the giant King Salmon that can top the
50 lb. mark! We start fishing for fall Chinook in
Tillamook Bay, Nehalem Bay and the Pacific Ocean
in September through December, moving inland with
the fish as they make their migration.
